About me
Jafar Alzubi, MD is an interventional cardiologist at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital and MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center. He specializes in advanced coronary interventions and provides comprehensive care for a wide range of complex cardiovascular conditions, including myocardial infarction, coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, heart failure, and vascular disorders. Dr. Alzubi is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, echocardiography, and nuclear cardiology.
Dr. Alzubi specializes in minimally invasive cardiovascular procedures, including percutaneous coronary interventions, valvular heart disease therapies, and left atrial appendage occlusion devices in patients with atrial fibrillation. He has advanced expertise in performing complex coronary interventions and employing the latest technologies and mechanical circulatory support devices during high-risk procedures. These innovative approaches allow Dr. Alzubi to successfully treat patients who might otherwise be considered too high-risk for traditional interventions or cardiac surgery.
Dr. Alzubi is deeply committed to thoughtful, individualized care. He works closely with each patient to develop a personalized treatment plan that may include evidence-based therapies, lifestyle modifications, and procedural interventions. A strong advocate for shared decision-making, he always ensures that patients understand their options and feel empowered in their care.
Dr. Alzubi received his medical degree from the University of Jordan. He then moved to Cleveland, Ohio, where he completed his internship and residency at the Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital. Next, He pursued two fellowships at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia in advanced heart failure and cardiovascular disease, followed by a fellowship in interventional cardiology at Yale University
Throughout his career, Dr. Alzubi has been recognized for his clinical excellence and dedication to patient care. He is a member of the American College of Cardiology, the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions, and the American Heart Association.
Philosophy of Care
“I strongly believe that every patient deserves to feel heard and supported. My philosophy is to provide the highest quality of care as well as the compassion, time, and honesty I would want for my own family. I commit to being alongside them during their unique heart journey, always listening to them, and explaining things clearly about every decision regarding their health.”
